Train

Train with the phase, not through it.

Your capacity is not flat across the month, and your program should not be either. Cycle-aware training is less about doing less and more about placing hard work where you can recover from it.

  • 01

    Where to place intensity

Many athletes tolerate heavy strength and high-intensity work best in the follicular and ovulatory windows, when recovery capacity is higher.

  • 02

    Recovery in the luteal phase

Core temperature runs higher and perceived effort climbs. Add fluid, sodium, and carbohydrate, and treat sleep as part of the session.

  • 03

    Track before you change

Two or three cycles of simple notes on energy, sleep, and session quality will tell you more than any generic template.
